| I was out in my front yard working
when a dog comes running into my yard. I was unsure
at the time as to what to do, as I did not know if
she would bite. I continued working and she sat
there and watched me. After about 20 minutes I
called her. She came to me, she was a little thin. I
went in the house and got a couple of hot dogs and
gave them to her. I petted her and she enjoyed the
attention. I went back to my yard work and she
stayed with me. When I was done with my yard work I
was not sure what to do with the dog that seemed to
want to stay with me. So I called her and offered to
let her come into the house. From that day she was
with me for 6 years. That evening when my husband
came home from work, Lady as I began calling her was
laying next to me on the couch and when my husband
came in the door she flew off the couch and almost
pinned him against the door. I was totally
surprised.
Well after the first meeting I was able to get my
new friend called Lady and my husband to properly
meet. After a couple of hours when things seemed
calmed I asked "Do you think I can keep her." He
said "you need to see if she belongs to anyone".
The next day I ran an add in the paper of a found
German Shepherd. I called the local animal shelter
and told them I found one if someone came looking.
No one ever claimed her. So Lady and I became a
family, although she never really did take to my
husband. I should of listened to her instincts at
the time as we ended up divorcing a year later.
I was soon to find out a couple months later she
brought a family with her, as she was pregnant.
Lady gave birth to 4 puppies. There was 1 male
and 3 females.
I placed all the puppies in a home when they were
8 1/2 weeks old, all except one little female who I
named Lavette. The little
male my neighbor across the street adopted him and
named him Ranger, he lived to be 11 years old.
Lady lived to be about 9 years olds. I'm guessing
she was about 3 at the time she came into my life. |
