Mitize came into my life when she was 1 year old. A friend of mine called me and said there was an ad on the bulletin board of her Vet's office for a female German Shepherd. Are you interested in? She knew I loved German Shepherds, I had Lavette at the time who was 6 years old. I'm not sure but I can call. So my friend Kim got the number for me. I called and yes they still had her. She belonged to a couple who was going through a divorce and neither of them wanted her. They said she was too much for them to handle and she was a fence jumper.

I made arrangements to go see her the next day. Mitize was a beautiful Black and Tan with a beautiful face. I fell in love and Mitize and I came home together.

Mitize consider herself my protector. I did not have any problems with her. She never tried to run away. She loved to ride in the car and would lay her paws on the back of my driver seat and looked out the window as I drove. She was always close by. She was friendly with people and would bark when someone came to the door, but when I told her it was OK, she accept my visitors.

One day there was a knock at my door. When I went to the door there was a man standing there. He started in with a long story of how his car ran out of gas, he had no money on him, he pointed to a car on the street and wanted to know if he could get money for gas. I said I'm sorry I did not have any cash on me. He then asked if I had a cigarette and I said no I do not smoke. The whole time Mitize just sat behind me with a constant low rumble and growl. This was not like her and I knew she sensed something was wrong. The guy picked up on it too and said your dog does not like me. I said yes I can see that and I think you better go. I'm sorry. When he did leave I watched from my door and when he was out of the yard I walked out into the yard and watched him from behind a tree. He walked right past the car he said was his and did not stop at any more homes near me.

The next day in the newspaper was a story of a couple that had been robbed by a guy who stopped and asked them for money for gas. I went and gave Mitize the biggest hug I could. She KNEW and she let me know.
